LINDA BLAKELY: COURAGEOUS TRANS-ATLANTIC ROW

Lurgan born Linda Blakely sets off this month to row solo across the Atlantic Ocean, with the aim of beating the world record for a solo female rower of 40 days. Linda will set off from Gran Canaria in her boat, Ulster Warrior, and cover 3000 miles of tumultuous seas with the aim of reaching Barbados. Linda is no stranger to extreme sports. She is an accomplished Ironman athlete, and in 2018 climbed Mount Everest and later the world’s fourth highest peak, Lhotse, in 24 hours. She is only the fourth woman to achieve this double.

Linda is raising funds for Action Medical Research, a Charity fighting to save children’s lives through funding research. It is striving to develop treatments and cures to tackle rare diseases that devastate children’s lives and affect families who are coping with the challenges of caring for a sick child. Medical research gives hope for new treatments, hope for a cure and hope that no family will go through the heartbreak of losing a child to a rare disease. Linda’s row is entirely self-funded. Therefore, 100% of all monies donated go directly to Action Medical Research.
