“The 1992/93 season yet again ended trophy-less for Glenavon, 6th in the league (with Distillery, Portadown and Bangor immediately above us)  and having been knocked out in their opening game of the Irish Cup. Hardly the most attractive proposition from a commercial viewpoint. So when the Board of Directors decided to seek a new corporate sponsor during the summer of 1993 it was assumed the task could well be quite a tedious one.

Various options were considered and eventually an approach was made to Broomhill Home Furnishings based in Magheralin. Following amicable discussions between the Irwin family (lifelong Glenavon supporters who owned the business) and representatives of the Glenavon Board of Directors a two-year sponsorship deal was readily concluded. That agreement was subsequently extended on a number of occasions (Broomhill was renamed Bedeck in August 2000) until it eventually expired in 2003. In 2007, when new Board of Directors was formed at Mourneview Park, the company once again became Glenavon’s main corporate sponsor.

Broomhill/Bedeck has now been Glenavon’s principal sponsor for a combined total of 20 years. It is currently the second longest running sponsorship in Irish League football. The company has provided phenomenal support to Glenavon over the years, not alone financially, but in so many other ways too. It is a partnership that has been rewarded by winning the Irish Cup on three occasions, twice finishing league runners-up, winning the League Cup, Gold Cup, the County Antrim and Charity Shields as well as qualifying for European competitions on seven occasions.

Bedeck is now officially known as Bedeck 1951 and their business is the design, import, wholesale and retail of bed, bath and home accessory products and also the retail sale of textiles in specialised stores.”
