Young midfielder Oisin Barr is to join Dollingstown on loan for the rest of the season.

Gary Hamilton hopes that a move to the Premier Intermediate League side will help Oisin, who has featured in a number of Glenavon’s pre-season games, take the next step in his career.

The Glenavon boss explained: “Oisin went on loan to Ballyclare in January but due to COVID unfortunately he didn’t get that much game time at a men’s level, which is what he needs.

“He has been in and around our first team training since he was 14 or 15 years of age, so he hasn’t had a full season of playing senior football, which is something which we try and do with the younger lads if we can.

“We hope that by going on loan that they will come on another level, come back and challenge for a place in the first team starting XI.

“It worked with Bobby Burns in the past and it’s very much our plan with Ross Hunter and Oisin.

“Oisin is a great kid, there’s potential there. He’s a Sykes-type player and with him getting more games at a men’s level that will hopefully bring him on.”
