Matthew Snoddy is returning to Glenavon on a season-long loan from Crusaders, the club can confirm.

The midfielder joined the club on loan from the Crues in January, appearing six times before the coronavirus pandemic brought an early end to the 2019/20 campaign.

And after impressing last season, Gary Hamilton said he was pleased to bring him back to the club.

“He is someone we’ve been after for a while,” Gary told glenavonfc.com

“He’s someone who, for me, is at a good age. He’s won trophies and we all saw what he is about last year.

“He’s good about the changing room as well, he works hard in training and he’s a positive influence about the place.

“We’re delighted to get him in. We’re light on numbers in that position at the minute so it’s good to get someone of his calibre in, albeit on loan for the season.”

Matthew will give Gary another option in midfield, a position he was keen to add to within the squad.

“We’ve got Michael O’Connor, Snods, Jack O’Mahony and Robbie Norton has been playing in there as well and done really well in pre-season.

“Jack is just back from a cruciate and Sammy Clinghan is injured with his calf so it’s nice to get someone in who is fit and ready to go, plus it’s good to get a bit of competition in the squad and that’s all we can ask for.”
