Glenavon can confirm that Ben Doherty has left the club following the end of his loan deal with Derry City FC. Ben will not be returning to Brandywell, however, and has instead signed for Coleraine FC as part of a transfer that involves midfielder Ciaron Harkin moving in the opposite direction. During his time with us Ben made 17 appearances plus 3 as a substitute scoring 3 goals. We would want to put on record our thanks to Ben for all his efforts during his time with us and wish him all the best in this new phase of his career.

“We tried to keep Ben here but we couldn’t compete with the offer Coleraine made him,” Gary Hamilton told us after Saturday’s game. “That’s football and you can’t fault a player for taking better wages. Ben came in here and was superb for us, he’s been a great lad to work with, he’s got a great attitude and I’ve no reason to doubt that he’ll do well for Coleraine and I want to thank him for what he’s done here and wish him all the best.”
