GLENAVON SIGNS YOUNG CENTRE-FORWARD

Glenavon has signed centre forward Lido Lotefa. Lido was born in the Congo but has lived in Ireland since he was an infant. He started his football career with Bohemians’ Academy before moving to Dundalk during Stephen Kenny’s reign. The 23-year-old has spent the last two seasons in Norway with Florø SK. He is currently resident in Dublin.

“I have been following Lido’s career for the past five or more years,” said Glenavon boss Stephen McDonnell. “He was a prolific goalscorer at underage level. When I took charge at Warrenpoint I tried to sign him, but Dundalk pipped me to the post and offered him a professional contract.”

“Lido moved to Norway in 2022. He has gained two years valuable experience playing at a reasonable level.”

“He is strong with a low centre of gravity and good technique,” Stephen continued. “He can hold the ball up and bring others into play and, obviously, score goals.”

“As soon as I heard that he was back home I got in touch. We had a conversation and he agreed to join us. He is a young player with potential. He will offer us another attacking option.”

Lido has joined Glenavon on a short-term deal which extends to the end of the present season. He has been registered but will not be eligible to play until the receipt of international clearance.
