RESERVES’ AND UNDER-18s’ ROUND-UP

On Monday 11th September 2023 Gary McAlister’s Glenavon Reserves team drew 3-3 with Ballymena United at the Warden Street Showgrounds. The young Blues raced into a 2-0 lead courtesy of goals by Jesse Turner (2 mins) and Aaron Prendergast (14 mins). Although Leon Graham (15 mins) reduced the deficit, Prendergast (34 mins) added a third. Noah Stewart (36, 48 mins) earned the home side a point with strikes either side of half-time.

On Friday 2nd September 2023 Jack Ross’s team defeated Institute U-18s 4-1 at Derry City’s Brandywell Stadium. Dylan Alexander (2 mins) gave the visitors an early lead. Shea Healy (16 mins) equalised for the home side. However, further goals by Ronan McAlinden (21, 45 mins) and Shane Kernan (53 mins) completed an impressive win for the Lurgan teenagers.

On Friday 9th September 2023 Glenavon Under-18s defeated Carrick Rangers Under-18s 4-0 at the Lurgan Junior High School. The young Blues twice scored headed goals in the first half through Christopher Heasley (16 mins) and Harry O’Neill (38 mins) from corner kicks taken by Ross Carson. Glenavon extended its lead early in the second half when Christopher Atherton (51 mins) found the net from the penalty spot after he had been upended in the box. Dylan Alexander (53 mins) completed the scoring with a well struck shot.
