Sadly Glenavon’s James Singleton sustained a fracture to his left tibia (lower leg bone) in this evening’s NI Under 21 game at Mourneview Park. The young midfielder was having a superb game when he was injured in the second half as he cleared the ball and was carried off on a stretcher before being taken by ambulance to Craigavon Area Hospital.

It’s likely that James will be out of action for up to seven months.

Everyone at Glenavon sends James their best wishes for a speedy recovery.

On behalf James the Club would like to thank all the other clubs and fans who have sent him goodwill messages. “I’ve had a lot of kind messages from so many people and I want to thank them for thinking of me at this time,” James said from his hospital bed earlier today.

Under 21’s manager Jim Magilton was ‘devastated’ by the injury to James, as he explained to the Lurgan Mail’s Gary Ellis after the game.
