Glenavon Football Club would like to extend their congratulations to Dollingstown on winning the Intermediate Cup last night.

Our near-neighbours beat Newington 2-0 in the decider, played on Thursday night night at Annagh United.

There are a number of notable connections between Glenavon and Dollingstown.

They are coached by Glenavon great Gerard McMahon, who knows all about scoring in cup finals! Of course, Gerdie scored the winner in the 1992 Irish Cup final against Linfield at the Oval.

Gary Liggett, who was amongst the goalscorers, was also on our books, while manager Stephen Uprichard was a centre-half for Glenavon.

The Dollybirds’ assistant manager, Andy Hamilton, famously scored an 81st minute winner for the Lurgan Blues in fifth-round Irish Cup tie against Portadown.
