Glenavon Academy player Christopher Atherton made his first team debut against Dollingstown in the League Cup. At yrs and days old, he became the youngest player in the UK to play in a first-class match.
There’s a local derby in prospect tonight as Glenavon take on Dollingstown at Mourneview Park this evening (7.45pm).
Tonight’s tie in the BetMcLean League Cup is one that Gary Hamilton is keen to secure a victory in, given the club’s record in the competition in recent years.
“It’s a match that we obviously want to win but we have to start right,” the Glenavon boss said.
“Our attitudes need to be right and that has to be the case no matter who we play. We’ve had a couple of upsets in competitions such as this so we need to be fully focused and treat it the same as we treat any other game.”
