CHAIRMAN’S UPDATE – SEPTEMBER 2026
As we reach the end of September, I want to take a moment to update you on the work happening across the club, both on and off the pitch and to thank you for your continued support during what is a hugely important period for Glenavon FC.
On the Pitch
It has been a month of hard work, improvement, and growing belief. The players and staff have shown real commitment, and while we know there is still more to come, the foundations being built are strong.
At the start of the season, Mick was clear that there would be ups and downs and we’ve already seen that. But his message has remained the same throughout, keep supporting us, stay with us, and we will do everything we can to make the supporters proud and get this club back where it belongs.
Your backing at Mourneview Park has been felt and it is making a difference.

Off the Pitch
A significant amount of work has been happening behind the scenes to rebuild and modernise the club’s operations. September has seen progress in several key areas:
New General Manager Appointment: I’m pleased to confirm that Jonathan McMurray will officially start as General Manager on 4th October. Jonathan brings strong experience both on and off the field. He has a background in football, giving him a real understanding of the game and the demands placed in running a football club. Off the pitch, he has developed excellent media and commercial expertise, which will be invaluable as we strengthen the club’s operations, communication, and commercial strategy. His appointment is an important step in driving Glenavon forward.

Commercial & Partnerships: We are delighted to welcome PolyPipe as a new sponsor of the club. Their support is a fantastic addition to our commercial programme, and we look forward to building a strong partnership with them over the coming years. Alongside this, we continue to engage with local businesses and community organisations to grow support and create new opportunities, with further announcements expected soon. Thank you to all our commercial sponsors for their ongoing support.
BlueZone Shop Upgrade: Our BlueZone shop has undergone a significant upgrade and it looks fantastic. If you haven’t been in for a look yet, please do so soon. A huge thank you goes to the volunteers who helped complete this work; their time, effort, and pride in the club shine through in the finished result.

Matchday Experience: We’ve been reviewing feedback from supporters and making improvements around the ground. Small changes add up, and we want every visit to Mourneview Park to feel welcoming, enjoyable, and connected. Don’t hesitate to contact us any time with any feedback, thoughts and suggestions!
Supporter Initiatives: We are continuing to look at ways to bring more people through the gates. September included new outreach to local companies, schools, and community groups and we will expand this further in October.
Development Centre: I’m also pleased to confirm that our Development Centre will begin on 4th October. This is a fantastic opportunity for players of all abilities to receive excellent coaching, develop their skills, and enjoy football in a positive, supportive environment. Places are still available, and we encourage anyone interested to get involved.
Your support, your presence, and your voice matter. Relegation brought challenges, but it also brought clarity: Glenavon succeeds when we stand together.
Looking Ahead
October brings important fixtures and new opportunities to build momentum. The work behind the scenes will continue at pace, and we will keep communicating openly as we move forward.
Thank you for all your support, but can I please ask for your continued backing by coming to the games and, where possible, bringing others with you. It makes a big difference to the team, but it is also key to helping the club move into a stronger financial position.
