GLENAVON WELCOMES POLYPIPE AS NEW GLENFIELD ROAD STAND SPONSOR
Polypipe branding now sits proudly along the top of the stand, and the partnership brings one of Lurgan’s biggest employers into the Glenavon family alongside the club’s existing commercial partners.
Part of the Genuit Group, Polypipe has spent more than 40 years designing and manufacturing water management solutions for the construction industry, from large-diameter drainage pipes and geocellular storage systems to green urbanisation products that capture and reuse rainwater at surface level. Closer to home, Polypipe Ulster operates from Dromore Road in Lurgan, just a short distance from Mourneview Park – and a good number of its workforce are already regulars on the terraces.
Glenavon FC Chairman Lawrence Looney said: “I would like to extend a very warm welcome to Simon and everybody at Polypipe. We are delighted they are coming on board as sponsors of the Glenfield Road Stand, and to have a company of their standing choose to put their name on Mourneview Park says a lot about where this club is going.
“Polypipe is a business built on doing things properly and building for the long term, and those are values we share at Mourneview Park. With Polypipe Ulster based just down the road, this is a Lurgan company backing a Lurgan club, and that means a great deal to everyone here.”
For Polypipe Managing Director Simon Brown, the partnership grew out of a matchday at Mourneview. “It’s something I’m delighted has come about. We’ve been working towards it for a few months now,” he said. “We’re a significant employer in the area, and the Crusaders game at the end of last year probably brought it home to me – not a great result, but maybe 20% of our staff were in the stands that day. That was the trigger point to say this is really good for our people.
“It’s not often you get the opportunity to come on board with such a big club, and I believe we’ve got a shared interest. We’re both keen to attract the best local talent in the Lurgan area, and as a significant employer we’ve got the same objective.”
Glenavon FC Director John Elliott said: “We are delighted to add another prestigious company to our list of sponsors. Polypipe are a huge local employer, very well respected, and a lot of their workforce come here every week. It’s just really good to have another big local company connected with the club.”
Polypipe joins a growing list of local businesses partnering with Glenavon, and there are still opportunities available, including further top-of-stand signage, stadium naming rights and a range of smaller commercial packages.
