SADNESS
Glenavon is saddened to learn of the passing of lifelong supporter Tom Kerr.
The Lurgan man, who grew up in Albert Avenue on the Lough Road, followed the club’s fortunes from the late 1940s. He was a season ticket holder for decades and attended games, home and away, with son Timothy until his health declined. He never wavered in his commitment, often providing sponsorship and other support.
Tom began his working life in the linen industry. During the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s he worked for Seawright Douglas, Samuel Lamont and Blane’s. Then, around 1977, he became Dukes Transport Limited’s Sales Director and continued in that role for some 25 years.
When he married his late wife Helen in 1964, he moved to Portadown and a year later became a member of Portadown Baptist Church. He worshipped there for the rest of his life.
Tom, who was a cousin of Glenavon’s former Secretary of the same name, Tom Kerr, was a much loved family man. He was friendly and dependable. He will be missed.
Condolences are extended to son Timothy, present wife Eunice, daughter-in-law Rhoda and the wider family circle.
Be Just and Fear Not.
