Football International Limited Confirms Completion and New Board Appointments at Glenavon FC
Football International Limited is pleased to confirm that the proposed investment transaction involving Glenavon Football Club has been formally completed, marking the official beginning of a new partnership for the Club.
As part of the agreement, Cathal Morrison, Alberto Valdes, Michael Stephens, and Christopher Parry will join the Board of Directors with immediate effect. The new directors bring a wealth of experience in the areas of finance, law, hospitality, marketing, administration, technology, data analysis, player development and player recruitment. They will work alongside existing leadership to support the Club both strategically and operationally going forward.
Football International Limited would also like to recognise the wider group of investors who form part of the Football International structure, including David Ordman and Lawrence Looney, whose participation forms part of the broader team supporting the long-term development of the Club.
Further updates regarding governance and the wider club structure will follow after the completion of the current season as part of the planning process for the 2026/2027 campaign, and in accordance with all appropriate regulatory and governance requirements.
Our plans with Glenavon are similar to those that informed our work at previous clubs, where ongoing off-field development and support for the on-field team involved meaningful infrastructure upgrades, steady management, revenue growth, and community consultation.
In our view, real progress in football involves planning and execution from the grassroots up rather than from the top down. With our management team and squad currently showing their quality on the field, our immediate focus is on providing financial stability, supporting management and staff, and from which, they can build sustainable foundations for the future.
Cathal Morrison on behalf of Football International Limited said:
“It has been a genuine pleasure working with everyone involved throughout this process. From the board and staff to shareholders and supporters, we have been made to feel extremely welcome and have appreciated the board’s transparency and the shareholders’ trust.
As a multinational group with partners spread across Europe and North America, we fully recognise the deep history and pride associated with Glenavon Football Club and Northern Irish football in general. Our intention is to protect that history going forward, support the Club in measured and responsible ways, and build a legacy together.”
Warren McCleary on behalf of Glenavon said:
“We are really excited to have completed this deal with Football International Limited. Not only does this deal secure the financial future of the club but the skill sets and experience of the new directors means that we expect to significantly improve the performance of every aspect of our club.
The club have been exploring the option of external investment for some time, and we believe we have found the perfect investment partner. We couldn’t have done this without the help of Alexander Jarvis of Blackbridge Sports LLC, who introduced us and guided us through the process. We’d also like to thank our solicitor, Damian McParland, of Millar McCall Wylie, who guided us through the legal process.
