HARRY MURPHY JOINS GLENAVON FC

Glenavon FC are pleased to announce the loan signing of Harry Murphy from Glentoran, until the end of the season.

Glenavon manager Paddy McLaughlin said, “It’s a great signing for us and it’s something we’ve been looking for since we came in – a big, strong and commanding centre half.”

“We have two senior players out injured long-term so it was important that we got someone in there who can play. Harry, coming from good stock, ticks all the boxes. He’s young, up-and-coming and can defend his own box, as well as, being a threat in the opposition’s.”

“Harry will bring quality in playing out from the back, along with a willingness to defend and keep clean sheets. He’s also a big lad and we expect him to be a threat from set pieces and chip in with a few goals too.”

“We’re grateful to Windy, Decline Devine and all at Glentoran for helping us get the deal done quickly and professionally.”

Harry himself said, “It feels great to be a Glenavon player. It came about very quickly.  I only spoke with Paddy last night and here we are 24 hours later and it’s all signed and done. I’m delighted to be here and can’t wait to get going. I’ve met the lads tonight and they all seem like a good group. The changing room is one I’m looking forward to be part of.”

“I feel like it’s the right step for me and the right fit. Everyone I’ve talked to about this opportunity have all spoken very highly of the club.”

“The club is one very close to my dad’s heart. He loves it here and has a lot of good memories from his time playing for and captaining the club. He really encouraged me to join and has nothing but good things to say about Glenavon.”

“I’m not going to say I’m going to carry on the legacy but I just want to make my dad and my family proud. If I can do that by contributing the club’s success then that’s all anyone can ask for.”
