LIMAVADY UNITED v GLENAVON

A LOOK AHEAD

On Tuesday 7th November 2023 Glenavon continues its BetMcLean League Cup campaign with a second round tie against Limavady United at the Limavady Showgrounds. The tie will be played to a finish with extra-time and penalties, if required.

United has made an encouraging start to the season with five wins from its opening six fixtures in the Playr-Fit Teamwear Premier Intermediate League. Its squad includes former Dungannon Swifts and Ballymena United centre-forward Joe McCready.

Glenavon makes the trip to the North-West with a severely depleted squad. In addition to long-term casualties Mark Haughey, Calum Birney and Jamie McDonagh, Sean Ward is still out. Niall Quinn (hamstring), Aaron Prendergast (knee) and Peter Campbell (flu) are also absentees. Manager Stephen McDonnell has called up several players from the Reserves’ squad.

“We are again struggling for numbers,” he commented. “But we want to win the tie and reach the quarter finals. It will take a big effort by everyone. Hopefully, we can build on the recent wins against Carrick Rangers and Dungannon Swifts.”
