Glenavon groundsman, David McClure, has good news for supporters fearing the postponement of Saturday’s Sports Direct Premiership home fixture against Dungannon Swifts.

“The pitch is fine,” he revealed. “It was very soft on Monday and Tuesday. If we had had a game on either of those days, it would have cut up badly. The dry weather on Wednesday and, so far, today [Thursday], has made a big difference. With the forecast to remain generally the same on Friday and Saturday, I have no concerns about the Dungannon Swifts fixture.”

Looking ahead to Glenavon’s trip next Tuesday to the North-West to face Limavady United in the BetMcLean League Cup second round, there is also positive news. “Our pitch is in excellent shape,” reported United’s Ryan Moore, speaking on Thursday afternoon. “We have no match on it this weekend. As things stand, the cup tie is not in doubt.”
