Its been a mixed bag of results for our U20’s so far this month.

From their win against Ballymena at the start of April they have travelled to Larne and hosted Dungannon, here is how they got on.

Larne U20s 2–2 Glenavon U20s (10/04/23)

Glenavon U20s produced a hard working performance against a strong and experienced Larne side.

Glenavon took the lead early in the first half when Jesse Turner scored from the edge of the box after some good work from the Glenavon midfield to win the ball back and counter quickly.

Larne then equalised from the penalty spot to make it 1-1 at half time.

Glenavon re-took the lead in the second half when Bobby Harvey placed his shot into the corner of the net from another Glenavon counter attack.

Unfortunately the young Lurgan Blues’ good defending was undone 15 minutes before the end when Larne pounced on a poor clearance in the back line to make it 2-2.

Glenavon U20s 3–4 Dungannon U20s (17/04/23)

A game riddled with mistakes and poor defending was produced at Mourneview Park as Dungannon came away with the win.

A mad first half saw five goals as Dungannon opening the scoring on the 20th minute.

Glenavon responded well by scoring three goals in 10 minutes through Aaron Prendergast, a Dungannon OG and Cormac McNally.

The Swifts responded themselves when they made it 3-2 from the penalty spot.

A disappointing second half from the young Lurgan Blues, gifted Dungannon two more goals as they seen the game out to win 4-3.

Lots of learning to take away for our young 20s so far this month, but a big positive was seeing U20s player Cohen Henderson making his competitive debut vs Dungannon Swifts in the Premiership.
