Glenavon, still bruised by recent form, hope to turn results for themselves as they host Newry City tomorrow afternoon.

The visitors also come into the game hurt, having lost their last 3 games on the bounce. Only 8 points separate the two teams ahead of the clash.

In his post match interview last Saturday, Gary said ahead of the game:

“You just have to keep plugging away and working hard and that’s and that’s all you can do it.

“If we can go back to basics, don’t complicate things – defenders defend, midfielders win the battle in there, fowards hold up the ball and score goals.

“Some of our decision making [against Portadown] on the ball led to us creating our own problems, in terms of centre halves not coming and winning headers and heading it 20 yards up the pitch. We were half heading it and it was dropping into them and they were breaking on us and playing the front foot.

“Our front two have to work the centre halves, and on the defensive side of things they have to get a hold of ball for us and give us something to play off, and score goals.

“We had six or seven corners last week and we need to start being better at that as well.

“I keep saying the same things but we keep trying to help them but we certainly need to get better and sometimes what it takes is to just be tight as a unit and stick together and work hard.

“Sometimes it’s the only way you get out of a bad situation and that’s all we can do. I know the coaching staff are doing all that we can and are looking at everything.

“We just need the players now, as well as us, to go out and make sure that they outwork their opposition number. We know we can’t expect every player to get the better of their opposite number. That’s never going to be the case. But with workrate, determination, desire and hunger, hopefully the results will come again.”
