Cliftonville FC U20s 2–2 Glenavon FC U20s

Glenavon U20s travelled to Solitude on Wednesday night where they played out a very entertaining game of football.

Both sides fielded two young teams, which created a fast paced and end to end game from minute 1 to 90.

Cliftonville opened the scoring midway through the first half from a quick counter attack after Glenavon gave the ball away too easily in Cliftonville’s attacking third.

The young blues respond four minutes later when some good patient build up resulted in Cohen Henderson finishing well inside the box to make it 1-1 going into half time.

Glenavon had a lot more of the ball in the second half but struggled to break through or trouble the Cliftonville back line and goalkeeper. Cliftonville were a constant threat on the break but Glenavon’s back line and midfield worked hard to stop any Cliftonville attacks.

Glenavon took the lead on 70 minutes when some good build up from the back and through midfield found Liam Corr, who was brought down in the box to win a penalty. Liam dusted himself down and converted the spot kick to make it 2-1.

Both teams kept trying to attack, but it was Cliftonville who found the net when their left winger cut inside to fire his shot excellently across goal and into the top corner of the net, giving Se Ferris no chance.
