Portadown FC U20s 2-2 Glenavon FC U20s
Glenavon U20s kicked off the new year with a short trip to Shamrock Park to take on rivals Portadown.
The first half started at a quick pace and Portadown found the net in the early minutes after Glenavon failed to organise their shape which left space out wide which Portadown exploited very well.
Glenavon responded well and scored the equaliser on 26 minutes when Pat Shearer showed good movement and strength to finish off a good attacking move from the Lurgan Blues.
On 41 minutes Portadown again made the most of space given to them in the Glenavon box and put themselves back in front at the break.
The second half continued much the same as the first, with both teams looking to attack and break on the counter.
As the game started to stretch, Harry Norton made an excellent run to the edge of the Portadown box and set up Jesse Turner who finished calmy to make it 2-2.
The final 20 minutes were a great watch as both teams constantly attacked looking to find that winning goal, but a combination of some good defending and rushed finishing meant the game finished 2-2.
