Carrick Rangers FC U20s (3) – (4) Glenavon FC U20s

On Monday evening Glenavon U20s made the trip to Carrick Rangers. The first 35 minutes was dominated by Carrick Rangers who raced into a 2 goal lead.

37 minutes into the game, a nice phase of play made its way to Lewis McMaster who crossed a great ball from deep onto the head of Jesse Turner who finished well to make it 2-1.

The second half saw a much improved and confident Glenavon side pushing for the equalizer. On the 50 minute mark, Glenavon made it 2-2 through an OG from a Jesse Turner cross. This goal kept the momentum with Glenavon who then made in 3-2 from a corner with Harry Lynch looping the ball over the Carrick goalkeeper.

After 65 minutes, Luca McGreevey Crouchman was sent off after receiving his second yellow card of the game. This set back thankfully didn’t change the young 20s mindset as they kept pushing for the 4th goal.

On 70 minutes, Noah McCann set up Robbie Morrow who unleashed a great shot from over 20 yards out to make the score line 4-2 to the Lurgan Blues. An unfortunate own goal pulled a goal back for Carrick Rangers, but the boys were able to defend well and see out the game to win 4-3 at full time.
