Glenavon FC are saddened to learn of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

This announcement is made even more difficult, as we so recently celebrated her Platinum Jubilee.

Born in 1926, she lived through World War II, joining the Auxiliary Territorial Service in 1945.

She married Prince Philip, in 1947 and acceded to the throne at the age of 25 on the death of her father, George VI in 1952.

She is well known for her service to her community, being patron of over 600 charities, helping raise £1.4 billion through her patronages. Her leisure time was taken up with her love of horses and her Penbrooke Welsh Corgis.

She has reigned through an extraordinary time, with unprecedented changes in the commonwealth, world politics, technology and more. Her steadfast nature and dedication to service has been one constant throughout this time

The Glenavon FC family’s and community’s thoughts and prayers are with Queen Elizabeth II’s close family and friends at this time of sorrow.
