Glenavon make the journey to Larne tonight following a week-and-a-half break from football. The fresh legged Lurgan men face a Larne side who recently tasted Irish Cup defeat, following their exit through a shootout with Ballymena Utd.
Glenavon are yet to get any points from the Inver men, with a defeat at and away from home earlier in the season. After both clubs tasted defeat in their last games, they’ll both be looking for a bit of redemption. A win for the visitors could see them leapfrog Ballymena United, provided results at The Showgrounds go their way.
“Some of the boys have been flogged to death recently with playing a lot of football. They’ll get the chance to lighten down the training this week and recharge the batteries.
“A lot of them players have been playing week in week out over the last lot of weeks and months and they could probably do with a rest.
“Maybe we’ll train Tuesday and Thursday and give them a weekend off to let them have a break and then get back in for Tuesday’s match against Larne which is going to be a difficult game again.”
Fatigue shouldn’t be a factor to consider for the Lurgan side, leaving it all to play for against a hurt Larne side.
