There were goals galore at Mourneview on Monday night as the U20s cruised to victory against Warrenpoint Reserves.

Captain CJ Sullivan set the tone after 4 minutes with a fierce left foot drive. The second arrived shortly after from the penalty spot, courtesy of Ross Hunter after Kyle Beggs was upended in the box following a marauding run. Matthew Snoddy claimed his first of the night to make it 3-0 at half time, despite Glenavon not really performing to their best.

A much improved 2nd half performance was rewarded with a glut of goals. Ross Hunter netted his 2nd of the game shortly after the restart following great work by Snoddy and substitute Bradley Ingram, and his hat trick was completed with a smart finish on the hour mark. Kyle Beggs got in on the action, netting the 6th of the night and Cameron Purdy rounded off an impressive display when he headed home from a corner. The 8th goal of the night arrived when Matthew Snoddy rifled a 20-yard free kick into the roof of the net. A moment of individual brilliance and a composed finish by substitute Luca McGreevey-Couchman saw him claim his first of the night and the big frontman completed the scoring when he raced through in the closing minutes to blast home his 2nd and the team’s 10th goal of the game.

While the amount of goals scored will undoubtedly catch the eye, an impressive defensive display by Glenavon secured a well-deserved 2nd consecutive clean sheet in the League.
