The Southern Regional College and Glenavon F.C. Academy are pleased to announce that they are initialising plans for the launch of a new football academy for delivery from September 2022.

This exciting partnership will offer opportunities to aspiring footballers across the region to enhance their skills from the age of 16 whilst also undertaking an A Level equivalent qualification in Sport.

The programme will combine sporting excellence with knowledge and qualifications that will offer participants the best platform to progress their sporting career and higher level study in sports management and sport science.

Speaking to Glenavon F.C about this new development, Curriculum Area Manager, Matt Turner from SRC said it was the right time to start work on such a project.

He said, “The C

ollege are very excited to be embarking on this project with Glenavon F.C to help develop players from a variety of football clubs across the region.

“We will afford the appropriate time and resource to ensure that we get this right and better the lives of young people and give them the best possible opportunities to strive for excellence sporting and academic fronts.

“There is a lot of hard work ahead, but we remain committed to ensure that we can deliver a what we consider is a beneficial partnership for all.”

Glenavon FC Academy Chairman, Jason King, said the Glenavon FC Academy had been keen to provide a programme for interested young people in this region and believes SRC are the ideal partner to take the project forward.

He added, “Glenavon FC Academy are delighted to announce our intention to partner with SRC in order to provide a full-time training and educational programme. Glenavon Academy and SRC are fully engaged in this process and we are determined to provide a programme that is second to none.”
