Glenavon ran out 5-0 winners in the end but it was a spirited performance by the Amateur League side whose goalkeeper Steven McKay saved two penalties.

Steo Donnelly’s two goals had Glenavon 2-0 by the 21st minute but he was denied his hattrick when his spot kick, awarded when McKay bundled over Josh Daniels was saved brilliantly by the big keeper.

The visitors had an effort cleared off the line by Robbie Norton following a corner just before half time and in the second half had a couple pf half-chances  on the counterattack with the score still 2-0.

Jack O’Mahony was replaced in the 53rd minute by Conor McCloskey and he provided the assists for all three second half goals. The first two were scored by Gary Hamilton who had replaced Donnelly with the striker feeling the effects of a bug. Jordan Jenkins forced home the fifth goal when another McCloskey cross deflected off a defender and McKay wasn’t able to get a hold of the ball.

Daniels won another spot kick in the final minute but Hamilton’s dink down the middle didn’t deceive the keeper who simply caught the ball.
