A delighted Gary Hamilton today announced the appointment of former Glenavon star Peter Kennedy as Development Coach at Mourneview Park. Peter, who made 20 appearances for Northern Ireland brings a wealth of experience to a role which will see him oversee the development of the Under 16, Under 18 and Under 20 sides and he may also help out with the first team if Kris Lindsay is involved playing. “It’s a tremendous coup for the Club to secure the services of a coach with the experience and pedigree of Peter who has played at International level and in the Premier League in England,” Gary told us. “It’s great to have Peter at the football club; to get someone helping out the young kids with the experience he has is a big boost for the club. He was one of my favourite players when I was following Glenavon and I think it’s very important in the development of young players and their nurturing in the game to have somebody of Peter’s experience sharing it with them.”

The Club has also appointed Mick Mougan as Under 18 coach. Mick, who is from Scotland originally, has been living in Dublin for a number of years where he gained experience managing teams including St. James Gate. “He’s an experienced man and we want good, qualified people like him working with our young players. With the NIFL Under 16 and Under 18 leagues starting this season it’s important to have good coaching staff and we’re delighted to have Mick onboard,” Gary explained.
