A very entertaining game with both sides creating plenty of chances. With some excellent defending and a few vital saves by the Glenavon Keeper , Glenavon went into HT with a 3-0 cushion.

The first goal came on 31 minutes. Excellent work by Parker, Kelly and then Robbie Norton playing in Jenkins who turned on the edge of the box to drill the ball into bottom corner. The second goal arrived a minute later from McCavitt. An excellent crossfield ball by Burns gave McCavitt the chance to hammer into the Crusaders net from a tight angle. O’Mahony was tormenting the Crusaders defence for most of first half and it was no surprise that he set up McCavitt for his second just on the stroke of half time to gave Glenavon a 3-0 lead.

Crusaders came out in the second half much the stronger team in the opening 10 minutes. They soon got their reward with a well taken goal that give Byrne in goal no chance. With the game going end to end with both teams missing chances the game seemed to be heading for a 3-1 win until Norton popped up from 20 yards out to crash the ball into the roof of the Crusaders net, 4-1 the final score. A good solid performance from all 14 players involved.

Team: Byrne, Kelly, Curran, Harland, McKeown, O’Mahony, Burns, Norton, Parker, Jenkins , McCavitt Subs: McIvor, Conlon, Adamson
