Andy Mathieson and Mark Ferguson fill us in on the progress so far this season of Glenavon’s Under 20 side (aka Glenavon Reserves).
“The start of the year saw us with a very youthful squad. With the likes of Jordan Jenkins , Jack O’Mahony and Conal Young moving up with the 1st team full time this gave a chance to some of the under 16/18s to come training with the 20s.
“Now into November we can see a lot of improvement and progression being made by this group both in training and in games. With the 1st team cutting the size of the squad from last season this has given some of the more advanced kids more game time with the 20s earlier than they expected.
“In the development league we firstly want the kids to compete and play to the system that the first team use. Results at this stage aren’t the number one priority, its trying to teach the boys the way Gary expects them to play. As it stands at minute we are 4th in league, having won 6, lost 5 drawn 1.
“From our next game we will be putting reports in of every game to keep supporters updated.”
Andy and Fergie
