A last minute goal by the home side denied a very youthful Glenavon Reserves what would have been a well merited victory over Crusaders Reserves at Seaview this evening. The game finished 2-2.

Andrew Doyle, Jason Hill and Renato de Vecchi provided much needed experience in what was otherwise a team made up of players in their mid teens. Renato put Glenavon ahead but Crusaders equalised to leave the half-time score 1-1. A tremendous Andrew Doyle headed goal in the last quarter of the game looked the likely winner until the Crues grabbed that late equaliser.

After some good play by Ryan Jackson and Renato, the latter ended up scoring with a diving header from a great cross by 16-year old Ryan.

Crusaders got their equaliser after a very dubious corner was given just before half time.

In the second half Renato was fouled and Jason Hill took the free kick deep to the back post where Andrew Doyle met it with a thunderous header to make it 2-1 to Glenavon.

Glenavon’s teenagers belied their age with some excellent defending and fluid attacking football and were unfortunate not to win the game.
