Glenavon FC is delighted to confirm that Andrew Mitchell has tonight (Monday) signed a pre-contract agreement that will make him a Glenavon player from next season. The striker, who will celebrate his 23rd birthday on Wednesday, rejoins the Club he has supported since he was a boy on a three year deal.

Speaking to the Glenavon website Andrew said “Rodney (McAree) has been absolutely fantastic and everybody at Dungannon Swifts has been very supportive. It’s been a very difficult decision to make over the last wee while but joining my boyhood club and the team I supported as a kid is an absolute dream and I’m really looking forward to getting back to Mourneview and playing from the start of next season. Until then I’ve a job to do for Dungannon and I’ll continue to do the best I can for the Swifts.

“My granddad and dad have supported Glenavon for many years. My own first memories is watching Glenavon in the UEFA Cup against Kilmarnock and if there’s anything I can do to help Glenavon continue to be up challenging at the top of the league and hopefully help bring more silverware to Mourneview Park.”

Gary Hamilton is obviously delighted to get his man at last. “Clearly I’m delighted to have Andrew sign this pre-contract agreement and I’m sure the supporters can’t wait to see him in action next season.”
