The Boxing Day win against Portadown completed the second set of games meaning Glenavon has now played everyone else twice. Let’s take a look back at the season as it stands and compare it to the same period last season.

The current points total of 41 is a massive 11 points better off than at this stage last season, largely due to winning six and only losing twice in the last ten games, producing a superb return of 20 points. Last season at the same stage we lost six and won three; a sequence which yielded only ten points and it took another five games to reach our present points total.

On a team-by-team basis the statistics show gains against opponents who caused us problems last season. Though we have failed to pick up any points against the champions and current leaders Crusaders, two wins against Coleraine and Dungannon Swifts and four points from the two games against Portadown have certainly offset that.
