danske-logoWith just three games remaining for Glenavon there is still all to play for as we look ahead to tomorrow’s away trip to face second placed Linfield. (Don’t forget this match is at the Ballymena Showgrounds – see details here). The Lurgan Blues are just ahead of Portadown on goal difference and just behind third placed Cliftonville, also on goal difference, all three teams sitting on 60 points as they vie for the coveted third spot and a lucrative Europa League qualification.

Gary Hamilton’s team has won the last five league games, a feat not achieved since the Intermediate League campaign in the 2004-05 season when seven consecutive games were won. You have to go back almost 20 years, to the 1995-96 season, to find a similarly successful run of games in the top division with consecutive wins against Glentoran, Linfield, Ards, Crusaders and Bangor.

All this is testament to the quality of player Gary has brought to the Club and the team spirit and work rate of the squad and his back-room staff of Paul Millar, Nigel Law and Reggie Hillen.

Law says that the players can’t wait for the next game to come. “Everyone of them is enjoying it at the moment and they’ve got a real thirst for the next game and we just want games to come. We’re not far away from being a top side.”
