6th May: Five in a Row
Glenavon Reserves 3-1 Armagh City Reserves
The Reserves won for the fifth game in a row on Tuesday night as they
saw off Armagh City in a 3-1 victory. Jason Gourley grabbed a double and
Chris McGrath scored with a stunning volley from the edge of the area.
Neil Adair: "The first half was very scrappy and we struggled to
create anything. We had a word with the boys at the break, settled them a
bit and asked them to just relax and play. In fairness to them they did
and we were a better side in the second period, without ever really
finding top gear. Chris took his goal well, he showed great technical
ability to keep his shot on target from a first time volley and Jason
showed a real eye for goal when he came on.
"It keeps a decent run going and takes us nicely into the Portadown
game at Mourneview on Thursday."
3rd May: Rob 'Knox' in Four!
Limavady United Reserves 2-4 Glenavon Reserves
Robert Knox's sensational run of goal scoring continued on Saturday as
he scored all four of Glenavon's goals, including one from the penalty
spot. Due to a couple of late injuries to key players Glenavon had to play
the entire match with ten men but it brought out the best in the lads as
they were superb from start to finish. Playing into a strong wind Glenavon
went one down after two minutes but from then on it was one way traffic
and the Lurgan Blues second string went in 2-1 up at half time.
Manager Neil Adair "The second half was all one way and once
again my only criticism was we should have won by a greater margin.
Despite being a man down the quality of our play was good and the lads
kept the tempo high resulting in Limavady being restricted to a few long
range efforts. Limavady is a tricky place to get points with a full side
but to get all three with ten men is a credit to the boys and Ryan and
myself are proud of our players for such a mature, committed and
professional display."
Four wins on the spin and undefeated in six speaks volumes for this
group of players and the standard of performance they are putting in.
26th April Reserves Keep On Winning!
Armagh City Reserves 0-3 Glenavon Reserves
They say that winning is a good habit to have and Neil Adair's
Reserves side seems to be acquiring that habit as the hectic end
to the season throws games at them with little breathing space.
Neil wasn't too happy with the teams' performance at Holm Park on
Saturday but the result still went his way with Robert Knox adding
another goal to his tally to help make it three wins on the trot
and no defeats in five.
It's no rest for the 'wicked' as the lads face a long trip to the
Northwest to face Limavady United Reserves on Tuesday night.
23rd April: Another Win for Reserves
Glenavon Reserves 3-2 Coleraine Reserves
The Reserves beat Coleraine 3-2 on Wednesday night with goals from
Robert Knox, his fourth in four games, Jason Gourley and a 30-yard
volley from Chris O'Hare.
From Reserves manager Neil Adair: "We're undefeated in four
which is a marked improvement of late. Probably our weakest performance of
the last four games with a few of the lads feeling the effects of so many
games. We started slowly and although we took an early lead we never
looked comfortable in the first half.
"Second half and a change of formation brought a change in tempo and in
the end, as in the previous three games, we could have had a hat full. The
lads are playing with a little bit of confidence and we are reasonably
happy with the form at the moment."
Team: G. Buchanan, Gibson, Montgomery, Bready, Gourley, Doherty,
McGrath, Douglas, O'Hare, Finlay, Knox, A. Buchanan, McCann
19th April: Reserves beat Swifts
Linfield Swifts 1-3 Glenavon Reserves (Knox, Finlay, McGrath)
From Reserves manager Neil Adair: "I felt we thoroughly deserved
the three points and in the end I was slightly disappointed the
margin of victory wasn't greater. We hit the bar and Chris O'Hare
rattled the upright with as good a strike as I've seen in a while.
We rode our luck slightly early on but the longer the game went on
the stronger we became and in the end it was a comfortable three
points.
"In our last three games we've drawn with Crusaders and Cliftonville
when I felt we were worth a win in each game so it was pleasing today for
the boys to get their reward for their effort and level of performance.
"Of the Reserve squad today, at least nine will be in the 18's squad
for their game on Monday night so it illustrates how young the Reserve
side is at the moment but the lads are working well and the potential is
definitely there.
"It was another hour's football for Richard Gibson as he continues his
comeback from injury and again he acquitted himself well."

Just as the First Team had to settle for a point on Saturday, so too did the
Reserves. Neil Adair's team also took the lead, with a Robert Knox goal, against
the Cliftonville second string but was pegged back with fifteen minutes to go.
"We went one up and they equalised with fifteen to go. I felt we were worthy of
all three points and on another day could have won comfortably" said a
frustrated Adair after the match.

23rd November: RESERVES LOSE
Glenavon Reserves 2-3 Limavady Reserves
After dominating much of the game and being 2-0 up after 60 minutes, the
Glenavon Reserves lost their way a little and Limavady became the team putting
the pressure on. Even though the young Daniel Wright (under 16 Goalkeeper) saved
a penalty he couldn't be faulted for any of the 3 goals scored.
13th November:
NO BOXING DAY FINAL FOR RESERVES
Glenavon Reserves 1-3 Loughgall (Bob Radcliffe Cup Semi Final)
Glenavon Reserves lost out to an impressive Loughgall side in the semi final
of the Bob Radcliffe Cup at Mourneview Park on Tuesday night.
The Villagers are unbeaten so far in all competitions since their relegation
from the Premier Division last season and looked a very handy side in the second
half but in the first half it was Glenavon, who included first team players Paul
Walsh, Neal Gawley, Adrian Harper and John Douglas in the starting eleven, who
dominated.
Walsh opened the scoring midway through the first half when he side footed
home past Noel Robinson from Gawley’s low cross from the right. Loughgall fought
back and equalised through former Glenavon favourite Dean Smith’s smart finish.
The more experienced visitors took the lead on the hour mark when Smith added
his second goal of the night from the penalty spot after Brian Adair had been
brought down.
Glenavon pushed for the win, throwing three up front but five minutes from
time Loughgall sealed the win when Andy Brown caught the home side on the
attack.
12th October: Glenavon 2-0 Larne Olympic
Marty Haveron and Paul Walsh scored the goals to give the Reserves this Reserve
League victory.
29th Sept: Glenavon 4-2 Markethill Swifts (Bob Radcliffe Cup)
Glenavon moved into the third round of the Bob Radcliffe
Cup with a comprehensive 4-2 victory over Markethill Swifts at Mourneview
Park on Saturday afternoon. Billy Sinclair fielded one of the youngest
ever Reserve teams with six of the squad coming direct from the academy
teams. Goals from Dale Malone, Marty Haveron (2) and James Sergeant were
enough to see the Blues progress.
12th Sept: Linfield Swifts 3-0 Glenavon Reserves
A strong Linfield Swifts side featuring first-team regulars Pat McShane, Tim
Mouncey, Jim Ervin, Noel Baillie and Tim Adamson beat Glenavon Reserves 3-0 in a
George Wilson Cup Group A game at Windsor Park tonight (Wednesday).
