End of Season
As I write I find it hard to believe we have reached the end of the 07’08
season and on reflection it has been a season of change. We have seen many staff
and players come and go, so everyone has had to adapt and embrace change. As
with all things in life nothing stands still and here at Mourneview we cannot be
found standing still we must go onwards and hopefully upwards.
For me there have been many highlights in the season chiefly the victory over
Portadown a result we all enjoyed and will savour for a while.
Congratulations to the Under 15s on reaching the Final of the Mid Ulster Cup
‘come on lads we are supporting you all the way’.
As the season ends we are all looking forward with anticipation to next
season and our inclusion in the big 12 which will bring many challenges but much
excitement and to quote Philippians chapter 3 v 12 ‘I press on toward the goal
to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus’. Off
course the goal and prize which the apostle Paul is talking about in this verse
is Gods goal for his life and the prize is eternal life and rewards awaiting him
in heaven. But I believe here at Glenavon we have much to learn from what Paul
has to say.
Chiefly Paul talks about pressing on and it takes perseverance to keep
pressing on especially when results don’t always reflect the effort and skills
we put into the game. There have been many times when we have had to deal with
the disappointment of not winning when we very much deserved to do so. But as
with disappointments in life we have to pick ourselves up and continue
persevering with our goal which is success.
Can I just take this opportunity to wish you all a good summer and see you
all next season in the terraces up and down the country in support of our great
team
