Drumaness Mills 5 - 3 Glenavon
After Glenavon eased into a 2-0 lead in the first half hosts Drumaness
Mills came storming back to go 5-2 ahead. Glenavon assistant Manager Pete
Batey dusted off his boots and replaced Marty Verner, who had scored one
of Glenavon's goals, and proceeded to grab a goal to pull it back to 5-3.
Message from David Gordon
Please convey the following to everyone connected with Glenavon FC.
Many many thanks to Jimmy Brown and the Glenavon players for making
last Tuesday at Drumaness a very successful night.
We appreciate that everyone connected to Glenavon gave up their time
freely to help raise funds for our injured players and the presentation of
a signed Glenavon shirt was a real bonus, I can assure you that such
gestures will not be forgotten by Drumaness Mills.
I would also like to thank the Glenavon fans who made the journey and
their attendance is a credit to them and their team.
I would like to wish everyone at Glenavon every success in the future
and once again thank you for all your support.

David Gordon, manager of Drumaness Mills FC, explains the background to
the game "Two weeks ago our star player suffered a double fracture of the
leg and Jimmy Brown has been good enough to agree to bring his team to
play us in an attempt to raise some much needed funds for the player.

"The reason we contacted Glenavon is because the player in question,
Gavin McEvoy, replaced last year's captain Conor Walsh after he left to
join Jimmy at Glenavon. Conor and Gavin are close friends so we were
delighted when Jimmy agreed to play us."
VERNER WINS AWARD
Glenavon striker Marty Verner has picked up the Harp Player of the Month
award. He was voted the Irish League's top performer for April by the NI
Football Writers' Association.
Marty, who scored vital goals in Glenavon's last three games against
Ballymena, Armagh and the crucial winner against Limavady on Saturday, will be
speaking to the Glenavon board and manager this week with a view to signing a
new contract. All Glenavon fans will be hoping that the top scorer is on
board for next season.
Update: Marty Verner signed a 12 month deal that sees him remain a
Glenavon player for next season.
Club Statement
In view of the recent media speculation regarding the position of Jimmy
Brown, the Board of Glenavon FC has issued a brief statement confirming that Mr
Brown will be continuing as the Manager of Glenavon Football Club.
Chairman Steps Down

Roy Ferguson informed the Directors at the Board meeting last night
(Thursday) of his intention to step down as Chairman of Glenavon Football Club.
Mr Ferguson will continue to act as Chairman until a suitable replacement is
appointed.
Speaking to glenavonfc.com tonight, Mr Ferguson, who took over the
role of Chairman three years ago following the resignation of Adrian Teer, put
on record his appreciation for the hard work and financial support of the board
during what has proven to be three very difficult years for the Glenavon
community.
"I'd also like to say a big thank you to the many, many people who work away
behind the scenes to keep Glenavon running and to all the supporters who stuck
with us through the difficult times. I have received a lot of encouragement and
support from the fans and this has been a big help to me personally.
"The job of Chairman of a football club is a very demanding one and it's been
very difficult to balance the demands of the club with my own business and
family commitments so I feel it is time to step aside and let someone else take
over the reins.
"I've been a Glenavon supporter since I was a wee nipper and Glenavon will
always be in my blood so I'll still be supporting the team every week but maybe
it'll be in a more relaxed state than I've been in over the last three years as
Chairman!"
