Glenavon FC has announced that the contract of Aidan McVeigh has been
cancelled by mutual consent. Aidan, who spent three years in his current spell
at Glenavon, will be best remembered for his two goals in the play-off against Crusaders
last season that helped ensure Glenavon's promotion back to the Premier
Division. He has joined Dungannon Swifts.
MALONE RETURNS

Tonight (20th June), the Board of Glenavon FC confirmed that it has appointed
Colin Malone as the new manager of Glenavon Football Club. The Lurgan man, who
was released by Armagh City under a clause in his contract, has agreed a
two-year deal with Glenavon.
Malone last took over the running of his home-town team in difficult
circumstances after Roy Walker suddenly quit at the end of the 1999-2000 season,
a situation which saw the club with only seven first team players signed up.
Despite this he took the Club to a second place finish in the League that earned
a UEFA Cup spot in the following season against Kilmarnock.
Collie is well aware of the need to strengthen the current squad, and is
tonight busy on the phone to a number of Clubs.
PROGRAMME EDITOR
Glenavon have appointed 20 year old Donaghcloney man Michael Scott as
the new editor of the Glenavon match day programme. The previous editor of the
programme, Deane Burrell, continued the tradition of high standards which saw
the programme continue to rank highly in the annual awards competition.

Michael has been supporting Glenavon from the terraces for fifteen years and
recently started a job as an advertising salesman at the Banbridge Chronicle,
after completing a NVQ4 Journalism course. He was also at the Chronicle on a
work placement for the year.
"I've been on the programme team since 2003 as well so I've a wee bit of
experience at this.
"I'd like people to come to me with their ideas - our supporters are the
people who buy and read the programme, I merely put it together. I'd like to
know what they want to see in it, what changes they would like to see made and
how can we improve on last year's effort.
"Also, people shouldn't be afraid to tell me what they think each week -
feedback is most welcome.
"Finally, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Deane Burrell for the
effort he put into the programme and his help last year."
