'SINCY' JOINS UNITED
Glenavon FC has received confirmation today from Chief Scout Billy
Sinclair that he is moving to join new Ballymena United boss Roy Walker
at the Warden Street Showgrounds.
The Glenavon Chairman Adrian Teer thanked Mr Sinclair for his services and
announced that the directors will be considering the position of Chief Scout at
the next board meeting.
GOLFING SUCCESS
The Glenavon Golf Classic, sponsored by
Well-Fit Gym, was blessed with good weather and a beautifully prepared
course at Lurgan Golf Club. First to tee off was the four ball captained by
Glenavon President Gordon Irwin which also featured local boxer Brian Magee and
snooker maestro Joe Swail.
The first team to post a score included Glenavon's Alex Denver and Stephen
McBride with former Lurgan Blues favourite Darren Murphy. On the last 'Maccer'
played a fine recovery shot from the green side bunker to within six feet of the
hole but unfortunately 'Murph' fluffed his chip shot and, despite a superb long
putt, the team's final score was unlikely to lead the field for too long.

William Orr's team a worthy third.

The day's golf was followed by an equally successful evening with a meal
followed by comedian Gene Fitzpatrick's entertaining after dinner routine
culminating in the auction which saw the four items going for £2500 in total.
Thanks!
Ian Irwin put in a lot of hard work to make the Glenavon Golf Classic a success
but he was quick to thank everyone who supported the event or helped out in any
way. "It was a learning experience for me" said an exhausted Ian after the
event, "but it went well and I'll be aiming to make it even bigger and better
next year."

Glenavon Golf Classic |
Glenavon has agreed terms in a two-year deal with Tim McCann who was
recently released by Linfield. The Glengormley-based bank official was
previously with Glentoran and Sligo Rovers and he also played for Leicester City
under Martin O'Neill. It is anticipated that he will fill a role on the left
side of the Glenavon midfield but could also provide cover at left back in the
event of injury to Mark Turkington.
The Club hopes to be able to announce further signings in the next couple of
weeks.
SAMMY STEWART

Glenavon have agreed terms with Aberdeen for the transfer of Sammy Stewart.
The 17 year old midfielder is expected to sign for the Scottish Premier League
club next week once personal terms are agreed, he passes a medical examination
and all the necessary paperwork has been completed.
We wish Sammy every success in his future football career.
PLUCKY RESERVES RUN OUT OF STEAM
Glenavon Reserves 2-3 Portadown Reserves
Robert Knox scored again in a derby match against Portadown for the
Reserves at Mourneview last Thursday night but the effort of playing four games
in under a week proved too much for Neil Adair's plucky team.
"I am immensely proud of my players. They have been through the wringer lately
with so many games and I haven't had one complaint or anyone asking for a rest.
The spirit and attitude of them has been superb and bodes well for next season"
was Neil's reaction as the Reserves' league campaign draws to a close.

WELCOME
'WILLO'
Twenty-five year old Glentoran midfielder Willo McDonagh has signed a
pre-contract agreement with Glenavon which will see him at Mourneview Park for
the next two seasons.

Willo McDonagh to Mourneview Park watched by manager Terry Cochrane. The
midfielder has signed a pre-contract agreement with the club. |
The tough-tackling midfielder had spent two and a half years at The Oval after
being signed by Roy Coyle before current Glens boss Alan McDonald allowed him to
move on-loan to Armagh City in January this year. Dubliner McDonagh, a 6' 1"
defensive midfielder who was capped at Under 18 level for the Republic, started
his career at Bohemians before being signed by Roddy Collins at Carlisle United.
He returned to Ireland to play for Shamrock Rovers before his move to the
Belfast Glens in January 2006.
"The facilities at Mourneview Park are superb" he told glenavonfc.com
today (Friday) "but what really swung it for me was the impressive plans that
the Board have for the Club over the next two or three seasons."

Glenavon FC has completed the signing of Ex-Ards
defender Jay Magee. The nineteen year old,
who turns twenty next week, is 6’ 2” tall and can play anywhere in the back four,
though his preferred position is centre back or right back. "I'm thrilled to
have signed for Glenavon and I can't wait for the new season to start" Jay told glenavonfc.com on Wednesday evening at
Mourneview Park. "I've watched the lads in the last three home games and, though
the game against Crusaders was disappointing, I thought they played well against
Linfield and they were unstoppable against Armagh on Saturday."
Belfast-born Magee is a nephew of Roy Coyle. "I spoke to my uncle about signing
for Glenavon and he was very positive and he says Glenavon is one of the best
Clubs in the country."
