It's almost a century (97 years to be precise) since Glenavon last
won the Intermediate Cup but it almost felt like destiny when this game
went to penalties after an exciting and entertaining game finished 2-2
after extra time. Glenavon had to win two penalty shoot outs in earlier
rounds, against East Belfast and Moyola Park, on the way to the
final so it was maybe inevitable that the Lurgan Blues would lift the
trophy thanks to another shoot out.
