Late this afternoon Glenavon was advised that the IFA Disciplinary Committee had charged the club with a breach of Article 22.1 (ineligibility through suspension) of the IFA Disciplinary Code. As a result the club has been fined £350 and must forfeit the league game against Portadown by the scoreline of 3-0. The Club is currently waiting to hear from the IFA concerning reports that Glenavon may have fielded an ineligible player against Portadown on Boxing Day. If and when correspondence is received from the IFA the Board of Directors will determine an appropriate course of action. Any media reports to the contrary are inaccurate and misleading.
The Club has received a complaint regarding large amounts of broken glass on the area and pavement outside Mourneview Park. The inference is that folk entering or leaving the ground may be to blame. Clearly such glass presents an obvious danger to anyone using the area/pavement and is unacceptable. While the complaint was not specific as to when this occurred [...]
