When Glenavon's first effort on target didn't come until the 82nd minute, that
just about sums up how poor this performance was. Colin Malone went with the
same starting eleven that won last week at Inver Park but this time the Lurgan
Blues just didn't match their opponents for effort and work rate.

| Tuda Murphy in action for Glenavon
against his old club |
Donegal Celtic got off to the brighter start but both sides
failed to test the opposition keeper in the opening 20 minutes. Neal Gawley had
the best chance but dragged his shot well wide after he burst into the DC box in
the 6th minute and the same player fired high over the bar ten
minutes later.
In the 26th minute Kearney flicked on Cowan’s’ free kick
and the clearance came straight back to him just outside the box. His left foot
volley flashed wide of Brown’s right hand post.
The closest either side came to scoring in a dull first
half was when Gavin McDonnell headed narrowly wide from Douglas’ free kick in
the 32nd minute, with Paul McVeigh’s shot easily saved by Tuda Murphy
a minute later.
McVeigh’s 59th minute flick header forced Murphy
to dive and turn it round the post as he rose to meet Bradley’s free kick. The
DC striker scored what proved to be the winner in the 75th minute
with a well taken free kick after he himself was rather fortunately adjudged to
have been fouled on the edge of the area by Gavin McDonnell.
Kearney’s back post header from Okunaiya’s 82nd
minute cross was Glenavon’s first effort on target but it was well saved by
Brown at the expense of a corner.
