CITY NO MATCH FOR RAMPANT GLENAVON
Young central defender Mark Haughey retained his place at the heart of the
Glenavon defence with Gavin McDonnell having to settle for a place on the bench.
The only other change to the Glenavon line-up from last week’s game against
Linfield was the return of Paul Carville, with Paul Walsh dropping to the bench.
Armagh City was bidding a fond farewell to the Carnegie Premier League,
having failed to receive a Domestic Club licence, an essential requirement for
membership of the new 12-team Premier League for next season.

| Mark Turkington has a crack at goal |
Trevor Molloy had the lion’s share of the early efforts, the first being the
best chance in the 3rd minute when he scooped the ball over from six yards. He
dragged a shot just wide in the 21st minute. In between Gerard McMahon blasted
high over after some fabulous work in the box by Mark Turkington.
There was controversy in the 24th minute when it appeared that Conor Forker
barged into Turkington inside the box but Referee Paddy McFadden awarded a free
kick just outside.
McMahon made amends for his earlier miss with a great finish in the 27th
minute as he ran down the right before cutting inside and firing a low shot
across Addis and into the bottom corner.
The Glenavon legend doubled his tally a minute from the interval when he
controlled Paul Carville’s cross and lashed a superb volley beyond the reach of
Addis from 16 yards.
Glenavon went three ahead just four minutes into the second half when
McMahon’s free kick, awarded for a trip on Carville right on the edge of the
Armagh area, rebounded off the wall to Carville and he squared the ball to Conor
Walsh who lashed a low volley past a helpless Addis from 25 yards.

Trevor Molloy celebrates Glenavon's fourth goal against Armagh. |
The unfortunate Mark Gracey headed former Armagh teammate Mark Turkington’s
cross past his own keeper to make it 4-0 to the hosts in the 74th minute.
Trevor Molloy made it five-nil ten minutes from the end when he ran onto
McCain’s through ball and drove a low left foot shot across Addis from 14 yards.
