The day after Glenavon parted company with Colin Malone, the players may have
been feeling down but would still have been expected to put in a performance
with at least some fight and passion but this was a poor effort lacking in both
those qualities. Apart from the first few minutes with Armagh's defence looking
a little nervous and shaky, Glenavon never looked threatening.

| Tuda Murphy makes sure Liam Cullen's
effort is going over. |
Eamon Murray had an early chance to give Glenavon the lead after Bracken held up
the ball and laid it into his run but the youngster's touch was too heavy and
the ball ran through to Addis. A minute later Cleary's run and cross set up a
chance for Forker but he shot straight into the arms of Murphy from 8 yards.
Cleary himself fired over from just inside the area on 22 minutes after
Turkington's ball into the box led to a scramble and the left back sent another
telling pass for Forker but this time the former Glenavon striker slipped as he
tried to turn and McDonnell was able to clear.
In the 33rd minute Bracken did net from Carville's deep cross but his effort was
ruled out for offside.
Forker wasted other chances in the 36th minute when his touch allowed McCann's
pass to run through to Murphy and four minutes later when he chested down
Gracey's ball into the box with Carville nipping in to clear the danger. Forker
had a shot cleared off the line as Glenavon struggled to deal with McCann's 43rd
minute corner after Cleary's misplaced header went wide but McCann had time to
pull it back into the danger area.
Forker eventually got the goal that City's play deserved seven minutes after the
interval when Turkington intercepted Cowan's free kick and sent a perfectly
weighted ball over the top which Forker latched onto and smashed past the
helpless Murphy. McMahon's 25yard shot in the 59th minute had Addis diving at
full stretch but it whistled inches wide of his left hand upright. Bracken and
Murray exchanged passes in the City box but Bracken's left foot shot gave Addis
a comfortable save.
After City's on-loan full back Terry Fitzpatrick was sent off in the 75th minute
for a second yellow card it was still the home side that dominated the possession and
another former Glenavon player, David Hawthorne, who sealed the three points
when he ran onto McGerrigan's pass and slotted past the exposed Murphy ten
minutes from time.
