Colin Malone was forced into making a number of changes to his starting line-up with Nathan McConnell out with a badly sprained ankle sustained at training on Thursday night, Ian Wallace also missed out with a knee injury picked up in last week's game against Distillery. Atiba Charles was also missing with it looking likely that he will be leaving the Club before the transfer window closes on Wednesday.

Neal Gawley leaves everyone in his wake

Gerard McMahon's 33rd minute penalty miss, his spot kick crashing back off the post, and a goal in stoppage time for Tomasz Grzegorczyk turned the game around after Glenavon had played the better football in the first half. The penalty had been awarded rather harshly against Gollogley for handling the ball as he stumbled in cutting out Walsh's pass and his arm made contact with the ball.

Neal Gawley had Glenavon's best chances of the half, hitting the side netting following a scramble in the six yard box on 16 minutes and a smart turn and shot inside the box that Keenan did well to save and gather at the second attempt with Barry Meehan almost pouncing on the loose ball four minutes from the interval. Grzegorczyk then gave the home side the lead after he slotted home from Aaron Black's downward header in the one minute of added time at the end of the half.

Conor Walsh has to stretch for the ball

It was Gawley again with the first chance of the second half when he broke the offside and bore down on goal from Bracken's flick on. He elected to shoot from the edge of the box with Keenan making a decent save from his low shot. Caffrey went very close with a near post header from Harper's 54th minute corner.

Magennis replaced McMahon in the 72nd minute with Gawley reverting to his right wing slot but it was he who missed a great chance to equalise in the 74th minute when he blasted over from inside the six yard box from Bracken's flick on. Colin Malone then brought on ex-Ards striker Robert Knox for Ross Black, switching to three at the back but within five minutes of this Grzegorczyk doubled his and Larne's tally after Bertie Fulton had burst through two tackles with the ball breaking kindly for him. Rice parried his fierce shot but the rebound left his Polish team-mate with a simple tap in. Grzegorczyk then returned the favour three minutes later when his pass set up a chance for Fulton and he finished with an emphatic volley past the helpless Glenavon keeper.

Neal Gawley almost makes the break through for Glenavon

The Glenavon players knew their luck was out when Conor Walsh's injury time shot came back off the cross bar to deny the side even a late consolation goal.
