Glenavon

Peden 83

O'Connor 45

Glenavon completely dominated the first half of this encounter on a bumpy Lakeview Park pitch but it wasn't until injury time that Kieran O'Connor managed to turn that dominance into a goal when he stabbed home from 5 yards to score after Conor Walsh had headed Scott Walker's free kick back across the goal mouth. In the second minute O'Connor had had a shot blocked after Peden gave the ball away to McKnight and, rather than shooting, he played in O'Connor.

Hyndes then got in behind the defence when Walsh picked him out with a diagonal but his lob landed on the roof of the net with Robinson stranded. Duxbury also saw a shot land on the roof of the net when he hit a dipper from 25 yards.

Paul McKnight had an excellent game

With Peter Telford out with the flu Paul McKnight partnered Marty Verner up front and he showed some wonderful touches and vision to set up his partner and others coming from midfield. In the 13th minute, for instance, his delightful flick put Verner through and O'Connor, sliding in at the back post, was only inches away from getting a toe to his low cross.

Loughgall's best effort of the half was a 25 yard drive from central defender Darragh Peden which McDonald saved well. Just before the interval Percy headed over from 10 yards when Robinson's cross picked him out.

Kieran O'Connor stabs home the opening goal

The game was just moving into first half stoppage time when O'Connor grabbed his second goal inside seven days. Walker's free kick from the right wing seemed too long but Walsh did well to head it back into the danger area where O'Connor pounced to force it over the line.

Early in the second half McAlinden spurned a good chance to double the lead when he found himself unmarked at the back post from a left wing Walker free but the big defender put his header just wide. Seconds later Coulter's pace took him clear down the right wing and it took a last ditch tackle from McAlinden to block him at the near post. Coulter then set up a good chance for Topley but McDonald made an excellent save to deny the former Glenavon man.

Wallace then got his marching orders when he picked up a second caution for tripping Verner as the striker tried to run on to meet Hyndes' cross.

Seven minutes from time saw Loughgall win a throw level with the edge of the Glenavon box as O'Connor sliced a clearance out of play thanks to a horrible bobble on the uneven pitch. From the quickly taken throw Johnny Black's cross was flicked on and Peden appeared at the back post to slam the ball past the helpless McDonald.

In injury time McMahon was sent clear but his shot went into the side netting.
