Danske Bank Premiership action returns to Mourneview Park on Saturday over two weeks since the last league game that saw Glenavon defeat Ards 1-0. Mallards manager Gavin Dykes is urging his players to show more ‘honesty and desire’ as they seek their first league win of the season.
Last season the Lurgan Blues won all three league games between the sides and in fact have won 8 and lost only twice in the last ten meetings in all competitions.
Gary Hamilton fielded a strong side in last week’s 5-0 League Cup win over Tobermore United with Declan O’Brien hitting the net four times. Kevin Braniff scored a hat trick in Wednesday’s Reserves 5-1 win against Development League pacesetters Glentoran II’s which also saw James Singleton and Kyle Neill continue their comeback from injury.
The Glenavon boss could also have Joel Cooper and Mark Sykes available after their appearances in Jim Magilton’s Northern Ireland U21 side’s games last week but Rhys Marshall is suspended. Usually reluctant to change a winning side, Gary Hamilton has plenty of options at his disposal for tomorrow’s game should he need to make changes as he looks to maintain Glenavon’s 100% home record this season.
