After finding themselves 3-0 down at half-time, the score line got even worse for Glenavon early in the second half when the hosts added a fourth goal. Glenavon boss Gary Hamilton inspired a revival with a double strike before three further goals from Jack O’Mahoney, Mark Sykes and Mark Patton saw the Lurgan Blues end up winning by the odd goal in nine.

Gary took the opportunity to give some of the younger players some useful experience with the first team, fielding a different team in each half.

First half: Tuffey, Burns, Marron, Doyle, Lindsay, Delaney, Robinson, Morgan, Flave, O’Brien, McIlmail

Second half: Tuffey (Ferguson), McGrory, Wardlow, Doyle, Savage, Sykes, Patton, Hamilton, O’Mahoney, Moorehouse, R Kelly
