We can confirm that Glenavon defender Simon Kelly has joined Warrenpoint Town as player/coach.

“We’re very sorry to lose Simon,” Gary Hamilton told us. “We wanted to keep him at the Club where he’s been a great asset since he joined us from Dundalk and we’ve had a lot of success since he’s been here. We’re devastated that he’s leaving as he’s such a good pro and his experience about the changing room was important to us. We’re disappointed to be losing him but by the same token we appreciate what he’s done for us and we respect his decision, which he said was a difficult one to make. I understand the reasons why he’s decided to make it as I did something similar myself when I moved into management.

“We wish him all the best and hope he goes on and does well because he gave our club such good service and we want him to progress and be successful in whatever he does.”
