Last night, lifelong Glenavon fan Tom Mitchell was presented with one of the inaugural Danske Bank Premiership Superfan Awards at a presentation evening at the National Stadium. Superfan nominations closed on 31 March with a total of 280 nominations across all 12 of the 2017/18 Premiership clubs. Winners were selected by an independent panel based on the number of nominations, dedication and connection to their club.

The Club were delighted that Tom was chosen for the award, although it could have gone to any of a wide range of volunteers and supporters around the Club.

Tom (who is assisted on match day by Gary Heasley, Jeff Magee and William Steele) was nominated for the work he has done over the past number of seasons with our match day mascots. Not only does Tom freely give up his Saturday afternoon to be in post from 1.30pm each match day, he has also sought and secured and number of mascot sponsors including Jumpboxx Banbridge, Centrepoint Bowl Lurgan, Café Bleu at Mourneview Park, and new for next season the Virtual Reality experience at Centrepoint.

Without volunteers like these, turnstile operators, lottery sellers, kit men, tea ladies, stewards, shop staff, fundraisers and others who help out on matchday, the Club would be unable to function, and are deeply appreciative of the continued support.

Tom Mitchell being presented his Superfan award by Ian Russell of Danske Bank, Director Leigh Livingstone, and Pete Snodden from Cool FM.
